Legal Access to Supplements and Herbs in Serious Jeopardy - Take Action NOW!

Sen. John McCain has introduced a horrific bill, the “Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010″ (DSSA) designed to end your access to high potency supplements by giving the bloated, corrupt and dangerous FDA MORE power to destroy supplement access. This bill is absolutely NOT to be confused with DSHEA, the Dietary Supplements Health and Education Act (1994), which says nutrients are food and, as food, you can have them in any form - and any amount - you like.
If we allow the Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010 (DSSA) to pass, we will be living …and dying… under something very much like the European Food Supplements Directive’s anti-supplement restrictions, implementing Codex Alimentarius’ dietary supplements and nutritional restrictions, to the “T” — effective as close to immediately as the Fraud and Death Administration can manage it.
The FDA is unfriendly to supplements because they do not come through the drug approval process. But the drug approval process only makes sense for patentable substances that will sell at very high prices. This leaves the FDA, which is supposed to guard and promote our health, hostile to the kind of natural medicine — based on diet, supplements, and exercise — that represents the real future of healthcare.
What happened in the European Union is both appalling and sad but this is what happens when you sit back and don’t take action….or enough action. The US is clearly next unless we act now - in massive numbers, writing your FEDERAL Legislators a letter opposing the Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010 (DSSA)…. ….write an individual letter for each member of your family.
Your legal right to access supplements and herbs will, quite frankly, be a thing of the past. Will you let that happen?
Take away high potency nutrients, herbs and other nutritional aids and what do you have? Big Pharma triumphant and health freedom defeated — a total and complete END of the DSHEA freedoms we rely on.
Since the unanimous adoption by Congress of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA) we have seen a blossoming of advanced, leading-edge, high potency nutrition sought out by hundreds of millions to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. These freedoms have been under sustained attack and Senator McCain has just escalated the attack.
This bill poses a major threat to you right now!
Pharmaceutical interests are obviously behind this latest effort to legislatively force more Americans towards expensive prescription drugs and away from natural ways of preventing degenerative disease.
Please take the action of sending your FEDERAL Legislators a letter opposing the Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010 (DSSA)…. once for each member of your family and also please pass this blog post along to everyone you know who uses, has used, or might some day use supplements. That’s how we can make this push back effort go viral and become effective!
We need to inundate the Senate HELP committee, since Tom Harkin said in November “DSHEA … governs the law here, not Codex standards…” and that the provision in S510 allowing FDA to “make recommendations including whether to harmonize with Codex does not signal any intent to move in a different direction on DSHEA…”
Now it’s time for Senator Tom Harkin to keep that pledge and stop the McCain Anti-DSHEA Bill!
Please feel free to copy and paste the letter below or write one of your own:
Dear____________,
Please do NOT co-sponsor, endorse or promote in any way or form Senator McCain’s Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010 (DSSA). I ask you instead to vehemently oppose it!
DSSA seeks to repeal key sections of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA). DSHEA protects supplements if 1) they are food products that have been in the food supply and not chemically altered or 2) if they were sold as supplements prior to 1994, the year that DSHEA was passed. If a supplement fits one of these two descriptions, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cannot arbitrarily ban it or reclassify it as a drug.
If this bill passes, the FDA would have full discretion and power to compile a discrete list of supplements allowed to remain on the market. Supplements drawn entirely from food and long-established supplements or supplement potencies could be arbitrarily banned.
I am asking you to please oppose any bill which undermines the provisions of DSHEA No provision of the “Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010″ should be included in S510 or adopted individually; and I ask you to please refuse to co-sponsor, endorse or promote in any way or form Senator McCain’s bill which threatens our Health Freedom and our rights under DSHEA.
If McCain’s bill passes, we can look to Europe for a snapshot of what we may be in for: EFSA, the European Food Safety Authority, has sharply reduced the list of available supplements and is in the process of reducing potencies to ridiculous levels, such as less beta carotene than can be found in half of a large carrot.
The federal deficit-debt is at obscene levels, while government actuaries mathematically project future financial insolvency.
Why then is any legislation being proposed that creates more federal debt, saddles the private sector with needless but costly new regulations, and denies Americans free access to better dietary supplements that reduce their need for expensive medical care?
The Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010 is a blatant example of oppressive legislation that strips away our personal health freedom, undermines free markets, decimates private sector innovation, and hastens the federal government’s plunge into a financial abyss all so that big pharma can get bigger.
Please refuse to co-sponsor, endorse or promote in any way or form the Dietary Supplement Safety Act and any other legislation that takes away our health freedom and adds to the already outrageously high fiscal deficit. I am calling on you to OPPOSE the Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010.
Please honor and take your oath to serve the best interest of the people seriously and help protect our health freedom.
Sincerely,
